This postdoctoral project focuses on the numerical simulation of atomization and combustion of alternative liquid propellants for space propulsion.
The project comprises two main tasks: the numerical analysis of impinging jet atomization and the combustion modeling of the resulting spray.
Task 1 aims to validate advanced simulation tools, explore operating conditions, and analyze spray characteristics to guide experiments.
Task 2 aims to develop a combustion model for the alternative propellant; and to study the spray
combustion using the characteristics obtained in Task 1.The synergy between experiments and simulations at PPRIME will enable robust modeling and validation.
Candidates should hold a PhD in numerical fluid mechanics, with expertise in multiphase and/or reactive flows and interface tracking methods. Experience with Basilisk would be a strong asset.
